The Short Version

Your conversations are private. Your church’s theological configuration belongs to your church. We don’t sell data, show ads, or share your information with other organizations.

Who This Policy Covers

Catholic serves two types of users:

  • Church Administrators — Leaders who set up and configure the AI for their congregation
  • Congregation Members — Individuals who use the AI through their church’s account

This policy explains how we handle data for both.

What We Collect

For Church Administrators

  • Account information: Church name, contact details, billing information
  • Theological configuration: Denominational settings, doctrinal positions, pastoral guidelines, preferred Bible translations
  • Administrative settings: User management, access controls, usage preferences

For Congregation Members

  • Conversations: Your questions and interactions with the AI
  • Account basics: Name, email (if your church requires accounts)
  • Usage data: When you use the service (to improve performance)

What We Don’t Do

  • We don’t sell your data. Ever. To anyone.
  • We don’t show ads. There’s no advertising on the platform.
  • We don’t share between churches. Your church’s configuration is never shared with other congregations.
  • We don’t use conversations to train AI for others. Your interactions stay within your church’s instance.

Your Church’s Configuration Is Protected

Your theological settings represent your church’s identity and teaching. We treat this as confidential information:

  • Your denominational configuration is never shared with other churches
  • Your pastoral guidelines remain private to your organization
  • Your customizations aren’t used to build templates for others

Your theology stays yours.

Who Can See What

Congregation Members

  • Only you can see your personal conversations with Catholic
  • Your church administrators may have access to aggregate usage data (how many conversations, which features are used) but not individual conversation content
  • We (Catholic) do not routinely access individual conversations

Church Administrators

  • You control your church’s theological configuration
  • You decide whether members need accounts or can use the service anonymously
  • You set the boundaries for how the AI handles sensitive topics

When We Might Access Data

We may access data in limited circumstances:

  • Technical support: If you report a problem and ask us to investigate
  • Security incidents: If we detect unauthorized access or abuse
  • Legal requirements: If required by law (we’ll notify you unless prohibited)

We don’t proactively monitor conversations for content.

Sensitive Topics

Conversations may include sensitive spiritual and personal matters. We handle this responsibility seriously:

  • Conversations about faith struggles, doubts, or difficult life situations remain private
  • We don’t flag or report conversations based on theological content
  • The AI is configured to recommend professional help or pastoral care when appropriate, but we don’t monitor for this

Data Security

  • Encryption: Data is encrypted in transit and at rest
  • Access controls: Only authorized personnel can access systems
  • Infrastructure: We use enterprise-grade cloud providers with strong security practices

Your Rights

For Everyone

  • Access: Request a copy of your data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your data
  • Questions: Contact us about how your data is handled

For Church Administrators

  • Export: Download your theological configuration
  • Modify: Update your settings at any time
  • Close account: Delete your church’s account and all associated data

For Congregation Members

  • Clear history: Delete your conversation history
  • Contact your church: Your church administrator can help with account questions

Data Retention

  • Active accounts: Data is retained while the account is active
  • After cancellation: Church data is deleted within 30 days of account closure
  • Conversation history: Retained according to your church’s settings (churches can configure automatic deletion)

Third-Party Services

We use trusted providers for:

  • AI models: OpenAI and Anthropic power the AI responses
  • Payment processing: Secure payment providers handle billing
  • Cloud infrastructure: Enterprise hosting providers store data

These providers are bound by data processing agreements.

Children’s Privacy

Catholic is intended for general audiences. Churches determine appropriate use for their congregation, including youth. We recommend churches:

  • Consider age-appropriate guidelines for youth access
  • Involve parents or guardians as appropriate for minors
  • Use the AI as a supplement to, not replacement for, personal pastoral care with young people

Changes to This Policy

We’ll notify church administrators at least 30 days before significant changes. Continued use after changes take effect means acceptance of the updated policy.
